Syntagma Square, Athens, Greece. Let’s talk about toxic people and toxic relationships, shall we. It’s a very sensitive topic, yet very common and extremely frequent. I am pretty sure that many of us have more than one story to tell involving such kind of people.
I am talking about those who remember us ONLY when they need our help or money or just to b*tch about practically everything and everyone, but never to ask how WE are doing or if we have any news to share, good or bad; those who are always in more pain or in more need for attention or in a worse situation than us; those who keep on hurting our feelings because they want what’s best for us; those who use our emotional attachment to them to manipulate us and treat us like pawns.
My advice: STAY AWAY! I can’t say this more clear now. The sooner you realize it, the better. It will hurt, if it is a family member the pain is going to be even worse, you will be devastated at first, but, in the end, you will regain your sanity and your soul will be light as a feather. Those of you who have gone through the entire process, I am pretty sure you know that liberating feeling.
